A new exhibition dedicated tae the history o the Declaration of Independence is set tae open today in Arbroath. Last year marked 700 years syne the Declaration wis dispatched fae Arbroath Abbey tae Pope John XXII, requestin recognition o Robert the Bruce as Scotland’s lawful king.

Celebrations o this significant milestone were largely curtailed bi the Covid-19 Pandemic, but the exhibition hosted bi the Abbey will tell the Declaration’s story through aroon 50 artefacts. It will also include information aboot the Abbey itsel which dates back tae the 12th century.

The Exhibition opens at Arbroath Abbey at 10am on the 24th August.
